Nestled between Hope st & Grand ave and less than a 10 minute walk from the renowned Staples Center, Prank Bar in downtown Los Angeles served as host to last month's Social Gents meet. With its blue accented walls, matching velvet furniture and laid-back atmosphere, Prank Bar captures the essence of a much more youthful and fun downtown [than the one I grew up with] lending itself perfectly for pictures which were soon all over Instagram with their own hashtag, of course.(#TheSocialGents) The overall goal of The Social Gents has been to come together as a [men's fashion] community, collaborate on new ideas, get informed and most importantly put real life names to faces online, instead of using their Insta handle.

However, August's meet felt a little different.

As you made your way up to Prank's reserved area, you could hear the talk, laughter and see the signature The Social Cut photo backdrop. You could hear the clicking of picture taking and if you concentrated hard enough, I'm sure you could hear pics being edited and posted online. And where other meets have featured guest speakers and insiders, this month served as a type of reunion. There were mostly familiar faces, with the exception of a couple of guys I hadn't met before, but old or new, there was a sense of camaraderie that sometimes gets lost when sticking to an itinerary. After drinks and ice breakers loosened us up, we all just caught up. Talked about new and ongoing projects, future plans and just life; like friends do.

Of course, we had to stop everything we were doing when picture time came around. Being that we were in DTLA, there was city background scenery to choose from, but the vibes continued. All the joking and laughing made its way outside, which made for good pictures and an even better time. After taking our mandatory "walking group shot" it felt as if the event had come to an end way too early. Reunion was over. Tabs were paid and goodbyes were said. My phone brought me back to reality, reminding me it was a Sunday and that another work week was waiting.

Until the next time gents.
